As python remains one of the top programming languages in web development, it also continues to remain in high demand as more and more companies hire python developers every day. So what does the future of web development look like? What new Python frameworks will we be using in 2022? Here’s my list of the top Python frameworks for web development in 2022…
Django
Django is a high-level, general-purpose framework that encourages rapid development and clean, pragmatic design. Created in 2003 by web developer Jacob Kaplan-Moss, Django focuses on getting things done quickly and with minimal fuss. It’s now one of the most popular open source frameworks and has been utilized by companies including Instagram, Pinterest, Mozilla and The Washington Times. Django includes integrated support for user authentication via Facebook Connect, OpenID and email/password accounts — out of the box.
Flask
Flask is a microframework for building web applications with python. It is based on Werkzeug, Jinja 2 and good intentions; it offers good performance and plenty of features to facilitate tasks. Flask aims at running applications written in any WSGI-compatible framework. It includes a built-in development server and debugger, cgit integration, support for useful extensions like Click, JSON/XML request bodies, streaming responses and more.
Bottle
Bottle is a fast, simple and lightweight WSGI micro web-framework for Python. It is distributed under an MIT license. Bottle focuses on developer efficiency without unnecessary complication, and powers thousands of websites and APIs across a variety of industries.
Pyramid
is a flexible, enterprise-grade, open source Python web framework. Designed to scale gracefully : A minimalistic approach to WSGI web development – Bottle: Fast, simple and lightweight WSGI micro web-framework written in Python.
Falcon
It is one of a lightweight, high-performance Python web framework. Falcon provides a rich WSGI implementation and comes with built-in support for WebSockets, asyncio, and many other features that you would expect from a full-featured framework.
Pylons
Started in 2001 and acquired by Zope Corporation in 2007, Pylons aims to reduce framework bloat. This micro-framework allows you to build apps that are both easy to understand and work well with third-party APIs. Although Pylons hasn’t been updated since 2017, it still holds a significant presence among those looking for faster alternatives to Django.
CherryPy
provides an abstract layer between web application developers and web servers. It allows programmers to focus on what they want their code to do instead of how they want it to talk to a server. adds very little overhead and doesn’t constrain what language can be used in your application.
Twisted
Twiste was created in 2001 and was one of the first frameworks for asynchronous programming. provides support for protocols like FTP, HTTP, SMTP, SSH, and more.
Tornado
Tornado is a highly scalable, non-blocking web server and web framework written in Python. It’s available under an MIT license. Tornado supports HTTP, WebSockets, and asynchronous file serving. There is a relatively large ecosystem of tools and libraries built around Tornado, so it’s very easy to get help if you need it. I recommend just diving in with tutorials first if you’re new to Tornado.
Quixote/Zope/Plone (All Unclassified)
Quixote is an open source web application server, content management system and portal framework in Python. It implements a large subset of WebDAV using XML-RPC and can serve as a back end to a variety of different front ends including Zope, Plone, Mozilla Application Server or others. Quixote also provides its own templating language called quxotica which compiles down to XHTML & CSS.

There are numerous python web development frameworks in present time. But there are chances that some of them will not work with web design languages such as CSS, HTML and JavaScript in future.
