Early life of Jorge Masvidal
Masvidal grew up in Miami, the son of a Cuban father and a Peruvian mother. Masvidal claims that his father fled Cuba on a homemade raft when he was a child and ended up inside the Virgin Islands. Masvidal’s father was eventually convicted of manslaughter & drug trafficking and sentenced to more than twenty years in jail.
Masvidal has been active in street fighting since he was a child. There are videos of him fighting Kimbo Slice’s protégé “Ray” on YouTube. Masvidal wrestled at St. Brendan High School, but he was ineligible to continue due to his grades. He subsequently began karate & mixed martial arts training.
Jorge Masvidal height
Dana White ended Jorge Masvidal’s ambition to fight with Conor McGregor in 2019. The UFC president noted the significant size disparity between the two as a stumbling block in putting the fan-favorite clash to fulfillment.
In contrast to popular belief, Jorge Masvidal only has a two-inch height advantage over Conor McGregor. He reaches a height of 5 feet 11 inches (180 cm). Meanwhile, according to UFC’s official records, the Irishman stands 5 feet 9 inches (175 cm) tall. These figures should be regarded cautiously, as on-paper estimates aren’t always accurate in estimating the genuine height difference.
Furthermore, while Masvidal has a slight height advantage, both boxers have a similar 74-inch range. McGregor has a +5.0 Ape Index, which now has allowed him to fight toe-to-toe with taller competitors such as Nate Diaz (6ft), Khabib Nurmagomedov (5ft 10in), & Donald ‘Cowboy’ Cerrone in the past (6ft).
Personal life
Masvidal is married to Iman Kawa, a Jordanian American entrepreneur & purchasing specialist who has been the sister of MMA agent Malki Kawa. They have three children (two daughters and a son). Masvidal & Kawa were married for around ten years before divorcing in 2019.
Weight class of Jorge Masvidal
It’s also worth noting that Conor McGregor has fought twice in Jorge Masvidal’s existing weight class, the welterweight division, and won both times (170lbs). The idea that the Miami native is “too big” for such an Irishman is further weakened. Conor McGregor has yet to comment on Jorge Masvidal’s taunts. After his spectacular five-second KO over Ben Askren in 2019, Jorge Masvidal aimed at Conor McGregor for the first time 2019.
He started a spat with the former UFC 2 different champions, ridiculing him for his tiny stature. He aggressively chastised the megastar for turning down fight offers at UFC 244. Conor McGregor appears to have taken exception to Jorge Masvidal & Dana White’s comments that the ‘BMF’ was too big for him. McGregor appeared to be angered by the statements, according to White, who stated this at a news conference.

Masvidal made his mixed martial arts debut on May 24, 2003, at HOOKnSHOOT: Absolute Fighting Championships 3, where he won by knockout.
