How to get fortnite on the Nintendo switch?
It seems as though you’ll need a special type of account to access this port from your Nintendo Switch. In order to get the full experience, you’ll have to create an Epic Games account by linking your PS4 or PC with it. Since Sony doesn’t want anything to do with the port, you won’t be able to link a PlayStation 4 account with any other via an Epic Games account. This is pretty disappointing as there are a lot of players out there who would love to play cross-platform games with their friends on the Switch.

You should have Fortnite downloaded and ready to play at this point. However, before you can dive straight in, there are a few more things to take care of. To begin, you’ll need to establish or link your Epic Games account to your Nintendo Switch.
To play, you’ll need an Epic Games account. It’s used to store all game progress and user data in the cloud and synchronize it across devices, allowing you to carry your Fortnite progression and friends list from one device to another. This means that your Fortnite achievements and friends list may be accessed on iOS, Android, PC, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PlayStation4.
How to download Fortnite on Nintendo switch?
On the Nintendo Switch, Epic Games’ wildly popular battle royale video game Fortnite is entirely free to play. It must be claimed and downloaded from the first-party eShop software like all digital Switch games. Here’s how to download and install Fortnite on your hybrid home console.
- Turn on your Nintendo Switch and sign in to your account.
- Tap on the orange icon or select it and press A to open the Nintendo eShop.
- Click on “Fortnite” in the left menu to open it. Select one of your players and press “ALT+E.” Highlight Search from the drop-down list.
- Press the following buttons on your controller: Search or + on your Nintendo Switch.
- Tap on Fortnite while it’s live.
- To install the software, tap the icon or select it and click A.
- You’re shown a confirmation screen. Select Free Download.
- Select Close to exit the Nintendo Switch eShop or select Continue Shopping to keep it open and view other video game listings.
- The Nintendo Switch’s Home screen displays a Fortnite icon right away. It flickers somewhat and shows a download progress bar while it downloads and installs.
- The game fully downloads once the image appears solid and the progress bar disappears.
Updates from either Sony
There have been no updates from either Sony or Epic Games on the news, so we’ll just have to see what happens when it comes time for release! Of course, if you’re a PC gamer and you plan on getting the Nintendo Switch version of Fortnite: Battle royal , this will be great news for you. You can simply link your PC account with many other accounts regardless of which platform they reside on.
I am rather interested in seeing how exactly it works over all though. In theory, I feel as though only players with PS4 accounts will be able to play on the PS4 version of Fortnite: Battle Royale. However, it seems as though Xbox One users are out of luck. I’m sure they’ll figure something out eventually, but at least there is some light at the end of this tunnel up ahead!
