How To Convert Between Various Units Of Measurement

This is a blog about all forms of unit conversion. It contains a series of step-by-step tutorials, guides, and tips and tricks to assist you with conversions between various units. It is intended for everyone from students, teachers, businesses, and anyone interested in making life easier.

Ounces and pounds

The ounce is the basic unit of weight in the imperial system, while the pound is the basic unit of mass. An ounce is equivalent to 28 grams. A pound is equivalent to 453 grams or 16 ounces. The following chart shows conversions between ounces and pounds:

  • 1 oz = 28 g
  • 1 lb = 453 g

Conversion between units of measurement is a crucial part of every scientific experiment. While many people have a general understanding of how to convert between units, it can be difficult when you need to convert from one scientific unit to another. For example, if you are measuring the amount of water vapor in the air using a hygrometer, you will need to know how many milliliters equal 1 cubic meter (mL/m3).

Fahrenheit and Celsius

In the US, we use Fahrenheit. In the rest of the world, they use Celsius. To convert from Fahrenheit to Celsius, subtract 32 and divide by 1.8. To convert from Celsius to Fahrenheit, multiply by 1.8 and add 32.

Liters (L) and milliliters (mL)

The difference between liters and milliliters is that the former is a measure of volume, while the latter is a measure of liquid. The liter is a metric measurement unit, which means it’s based on the international standard for weights and measures. A liter is equal to 1,000 cubic centimeters or about 0.264 gallons.

To convert from liters to milliliters, multiply your number by 1,000. For example, if you have 4 liters of water, multiply that by 1,000 to get 4,000 milliliters of water (mL).

Miles (mi) and kilometers (km)

The difference between miles and kilometers is that the former refers to distance while the latter refers to length. One kilometer equals 0.621 miles or 5/8ths of a mile. When converting from miles to kilometers, multiply your number by 0.621 (or divide by 5/8ths). For example, if you have 10 miles of road frontage property for sale, multiply that by 0.621 to get 6.2 kilometers of road frontage property for sale (km).

Oz into cup

How Many Cups Is 8oz? This is a common question in the US; this is a simple conversion between ounces and cups. The most common recipe in the US is for 1 cup of flour, which weighs about 120 grams. If you need to convert between cups and ounces, use this handy chart:

  • 1 cup = 8 fluid ounces (1/2 pint)
  • 2 cups = 16 fluid ounces (1 pint)
  • 4 cups = 32 fluid ounces (1 quart)

Or

  • 1 oz = 0.0625 cup

In the US, there are 16 tablespoons in a cup, and each tablespoon is around 3 teaspoons. So, 1 oz can be converted into 1/16 cup. Here is the formula to convert oz into cups:

To convert oz into cups, multiply the number of ounces by 0.0625 (the proportion between ounces and tablespoons). Then divide the result by 16 (the number of tablespoons per 1 cup).

Grams and kilograms

The conversion between grams and kilograms is not that difficult. To convert from grams to kilograms, multiply the number of grams by 1,000. To convert from kilograms to grams, divide the number of kilograms by 1,000. For example, if you have 10 kgs, then you have 10 x 1,000 = 10,000 grams in total.

Yards, feet, and inches

Converting yards to feet is simply multiplying the number of yards by 0.9144 (the conversion factor). Converting feet to yards works similarly: multiply by 0.3048 (the conversion factor). Converting between feet and inches is a little more complicated, but it can be done with one formula. First, convert feet to inches by dividing by 12 (1 foot = 12 inches) and then multiply that result by the number of inches you want to convert.

Meters (m) and centimeters (cm)

The relationship between meters and centimeters is as follows:

1 meter = 100 centimeters

The metric system is a decimal-based measurement system, meaning that all units are based on powers of ten. This can be confusing at first because people are used to the idea that units of measurement are based on powers of 12 (feet, inches, etc.).
